In this main stretch of Summer, the sunlight, clouds, and colors of Nature have been amazing! Others must feel that way too as Facebook is brimming over with memory making shots of Summertime on the Island. Thanks to Facebook friends for allowing me to curate a collection here.
Enjoy!
It started when I saw some early morning shots of Jackson Harbor posted by Pam Young. The images presented like paintings to me.
Maybe they should be. I am beginning to see why the Island is such a fruitful place for artists. On the other hand, these photographers sure do have a good artistic eye themselves.
Then, I saw this posted by Rachel of Figenschau Bay. I would say watercolor takes on a whole new meaning but it sounds too close to a pun. Well done, Rachel! Isn't it fun to be in the right place at the right moment?
Speaking of the right place, here is the info on this year's Rec Run. It always has a prompt start so do be there ready to go at 10:00 sharp this Saturday. Proceeds will go towards 2016 Rec expenses.
In the process of walking or running, the fields, gardens, and just greenery around the Island are quite a sight to see! Gardens are overflowing this year and Margaret Foss' has a remarkable showing. It also reminds me the House Tour - "Old & New" - which benefits the Farm Museum is today, 10 - 4 ! Tickets are available at the Farm Museum today from 10-12noon. Four homes and one Island business are on view.
This garden like place has a unique use this Sunday as the Community Band presents a concert...after the Ball Game that is, at 4:30. Bring a blanket or chair and have a listen!
The setting for the concert is Lyons Isle Vineyards. This is the entrance off Airport Road BUT, I believe for this event, folks are asked to park/use the entrance on Lakeview Road.
I do hope this much anchoring won't be necessary Sunday but I include it because anyone who has played an outdoor concert will understand and appreciate. We haven't even gotten to the idea of bugs. Sometimes I think musicians deserve hazard pay. Did I mention that this is a free concert however donations are appreciated? Bring a chair or a blanket and enjoy!
There will be a few more musicians on the Island this weekend. The Washington Island Music Festival starts its two week run on Monday. It's a big season to celebrate its 25th year! There might be one of these posters available for purchase.
Another water capture, this time at Schoolhouse Beach. This time, Sophia was able to snap a memorable shot of Fisher. His mom sure thinks so!
Days come and go perhaps too quickly. One other beautiful thing of being on an Island? There is always one more water view. For Susan Ulm it means a chance to view one more sunset off shore at Greengate Farm (with her blessedly ready camera/phone).
One can never have enough time on the water and we have had some lovely evening cruises this Summer.
Enjoy the water.
Enjoy the weather.
Enjoy the music.
Enjoy the Summer.
til next time ...
